Join Our #BetterPeace Podcast Crew!
Politics in Action is recruiting a crew of young people to co-produce a high-quality and engaging podcast series of 8 – 10 episodes between October 2023 and May 2024. The series will look back at the accomplishments of the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement, and look forward in terms of young people’s ideas about how to strengthen our society and build a better peace. The series will be aimed at other young people – helping to increase their interest in and knowledge of the challenges of building a more peaceful and successful society.
Crew members will receive training and support from a professional journalist and our staff team and will learn all aspects of producing, presenting and marketing a podcast series. This will include recording and editing skills, research, presenting, interviewing, marketing and a host of other skills. They will learn how to use professional audio equipment and how to produce compelling programmes. Crew members will get to decide who they want to interview for the series and will be able to travel (across the UK and Ireland) to conduct interviews and discussions. They will help with the promotion and marketing of the series as well as evaluating its impact.
The programme will start with an intensive weekend residential (dates to be decided) to provide training and to plan the series and the work ahead. Participants should be current or former participants in our other projects and there will be 8 – 10 places. The project includes the opportunity to travel for short visits to other parts of the UK or Ireland to conduct and record interviews or discussions.
The project is supported by the International Fund for Ireland through their ‘Our Peace, Our Future’ programme and through the National Lottery Community Fund’s ‘Empowering Young People’ programme.
Please complete this short form to apply. We will be selecting participants from across Northern Ireland and Donegal, and across our projects.
